Portland: A Recap

I am back! I took last week off of blogging to regroup from vacations and enjoy life outside of the internet, but, I did want to share some of my amazing trip to Portland with everyone. There was definitely some highlights of the trip, making two long visits to the legendary Powell’s Bookstore (I completely nerded out over this place) IMG_2502

I was fortunate enough to catch a reading by Sahar Delijani while I was there. She was incredibly eloquent and I just started reading her book, Children of the Jacaranda Tree. IMG_2506

We walked across St. John’s Bridge and into Forest Park, where we enjoyed the lush greenery and grazed fresh berries.

We enjoyed the Waterfront Blue Festival and reveled in the fact that all proceeds benefitted the local food bank.

And, while all those experiences were amazing, the absolute best part of the trip was the amazing selections of vegan FOOD. I was in heaven. There was literally delicious food around every corner. Most places already had vegan options on the menu, and if they didn’t, they easily made substitutions if you asked.

My favorite bar was definitely The Bye & Bye. They had an all vegan menu. We visited twice.

I was completely overwhelmed and in awe of the blocks and blocks of food trucks downtown. I had no idea what to pick, so I ate a little bit from each one. IMG_0353

We also made a visit to Voodoo Donuts to try out their vegan selections. IMG_2490 IMG_0358 IMG_0363

There was also an all vegan Chinese food restaurant and delicious vegan pizza. IMG_2571 IMG_2557

I obviously enjoyed making a glutton of myself, but besides that, I truly fell in love with Portland. The city has such a positive vibe and I was enthralled by the friendliness and sense of community. I could definitely see myself living there one day!

Have you ever been to Portland?
