This day started off a little rocky. I went to pick up my juices around 6:30, only to find that Real Raw Live did not open till 8. I made the mistake of assuming they opened each day at 6, but Saturday is the one exception.
I had to be at my yoga studio at 8:00, for meditation, followed by vinyasa class at 9:00, then teacher training until 3:30.
Fortunately, my husband played delivery man, picked up the juices and brought them to the yoga studio where I found them waiting for me, after meditation.
8:45-After meditation was over, I took a few sips of the Fat Burning Blueberryade (Secret recipe of organic anti-oxidant powder, organic whole lime and filtered water). I was HUNGRY at this point, and disappointed I did not have a juice earlier in the morning. However, I had hot yoga class in 15 minutes, so I did not want to drink too much.
10:30-As soon as class was over, I ran to the cooler, to finish off the Fat Burning Blueberryade and Berry Grounding smoothie (sprouted organic buckwheat, mixed berries, organic banana, organic spirulina, blended with organic date water and ice). Once again, I purposely saved this filling drink for after class. Strangely enough, I felt much more energized after class, even though I did it on a virtually empty stomach. I think part of it can be attributed to how well I slept the night before.
12:00-This was our break time during yoga teacher training. I sipped the Green Vibrancy (organic kale, celery, cucumber, parsley and lemon) while I read and journaled. I was not very hungry at this point, but I thoroughly enjoyed the fresh tasting greens.
3:30-I chugged a Liquid Lunch Box (organic carrot, green apple, beet, kale, lemon and ginger) as soon as I was finished with teacher training. This is when things grew more difficult. I was done with my Saturday routine, and usually, I start planning dinner or we go out to eat. Another point of difficulty was that I needed to stop at Trader Joe’s, to buy our weekly groceries. I intended to do this during the week, but I did not make time for it, like I should have. DO NOT GO GROCERY SHOPPING WHILE ON A JUICE CLEANSE. I was staring at all the food like this:
I sipped on my Liquid Lunch Box through the store, but everything looked so much better than my little bottle.
5:00-After putting away groceries and showering, I was antsy and hungry. It could have been psychological, after the Trader Joe’s bombardment of food and smells, and the realization that I still had over 24 hours of this, I started getting kooky. I am not even sure if I was really hungry, but I drank the Mental Bee Sting (organic carrot, pineapple, lime and ginger), at this point.
My husband and I knew we needed to get out of the house. We were both gazing longingly at the kitchen and would have loved to start a big pasta dinner with wine. All we wanted to do was this:
Instead, we decided to go to our local coffee shop, sip mint tea and surf the internet.
9:00-The distraction of being away from home helped, but we were both really wanting some food. Someone, who was not me, was also particularly irritable, it seems like all we could think about was food. I drank my last juice of the day, Forever Green (organic kale, celery, green apple, cilantro, lemon), and headed off to read in bed. I seriously just wanted to go to sleep, so that I could hurry up and be on the last day of the cleanse.
Final thoughts on Day 2: This was the hardest day, psychologically. We had one day behind us, and the one day ahead of us felt daunting and discouraging. Saturday was also particularly hard, because normally in the evenings we cook big meals, enjoy wine or go out to eat. I do not think I was every really physically hungry, I think it was much more psychological than anything. However, my energy was crashing by about 6:00 PM. I quickly fell asleep around 9:30.
Because Real Raw Live is closed on Sundays, on Saturday, we picked up 2 days worth of juices. This is what our refrigerator looked like, 2 days of juices, for 2 people.
Check back for Day 3 and Final Recap…
