I recently saw an advertisement for Daiya’s new “cheese” slices. I knew I wanted to try them soon, I really love their jalapeno garlic havarti.
I finally picked some up on my last visit to my local health food store. I also bought some tempeh bacon and set out to make a vegan blt, with daiya cheddar slices.
I added Veganaise, spinach, tomato, tempeh bacon and the daiya slices to two slices of toasted Ezekiel bread. The sandwich was delicious! All the creamy flavors meshed well together.
Daiya’s sliced cheese melted beautifully and like what I remember cheddar to have tasted like. However, I did try a slice raw and it was not as good. I will definitely still buy this product, but will stick to eating it melted.
Good to know! Since I’ll be back in the US in a few months and have access to such products it’s good to know what’s good!
Yay! When are you coming back?
Mid-November. Although I will say I’m not happy about it!!
Where are you moving to? Aww…I can’t say I would be happy about coming back either.
LOVING your blog! I’m participating in VeganMoFo as well! Swing by when you can
I’m a fan of their vegan cheese as well and post recipes with it often 🙂
Thanks for stoping by!
I wasn’t able to find your blog, would you mind replying with the link? Thanks!
Loved the makeup post, even though I’m a guy. Doesn’t apply to me directly, but I’m glad folks are reflecting about it. Lose the Daiya. And the fake mayo. They are nothing but congealed highly refined vegetable oil that is no healthier than congealed bovine secretions. Really. You won’t regret it. It is almost as important as eliminating animal food as far as health is concerned. Check out the success of Drs Esselstyn and McDougall. Getting that sludge outta my arteries has made a world of difference. Good luck for Vegan Mofo!
Thanks for the info!
