I have been eagerly anticipating Isa Chandra Maskowitz’s new book, Isa Does It, and I was not disappointed. She has, once again, completely blown me away with her creative, diverse and accessible recipes. I know I have mentioned it before, but it bears repeating that I credit her, along with Terry Hope Romero, with teaching me how to cook. I do not think I would have survived as a vegan if it were not for their creative, delicious recipes that satisfy my cravings, all without minimal harm to the environment and my animal friends.
The first recipe we tried from the book was the Sweet Potato & Red Curry Soup with rice & kale. I have to credit my husband with making this amazing dish. He said it was relatively easy and took little prep time. I can only speak for how delicious the soup was, but it absolutely delivered on taste, nutrition and heartiness. The lime and the ginger were a perfect, tangy compliment to the sweetness of the sweet potatoes and the earthiness of the quinoa (used in place of rice).
This book is packed with gorgeous pictures and recipes that I am eager to try. I have the Dragon Noodle Salad, Roasted Red Pepper Mac & Cheese, Curried Peanut Sauce Bowl and Nacho Night with Lentil “Meat” all marked and on deck to be tested next.
I think it’s time – I’ve got to try this cookbook!
Definitely! Let me know if you get it and what you think!
