On Day 6, I woke up feeling pretty good. My energy was high and I finally felt like I was in the clear from getting the awful detox symptoms (lasting headaches, nausea, etc.). The longest juice cleanse I have done before is 5 Days, so I was still a little wary of the next 2 days could bring.
We had a pretty busy day planned, so we were up early to juice and packed them up in our ice chest to carry along from place to place.
The juices. All ingredients listed are for 2 juices, approximately 16-20 ounces each:
1. 1 bunch of Romaine, 1 bunch of kale, 1 bunch celery, 1 POM juice, 1 lemon, 1 inch of ginger, 2 tablespoons of spirulina
2. 2 grapefruits, 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, 3 cups of probiotic coconut water, 1 lemon, 1 inch of ginger, tablespoons of chia seeds
3. 4 Carrots, 2 tomatoes, 2 red bell peppers, 1 clove of garlic, 1 bunch of celery, 1 buncg of kale, 1 lemon, 1 inch of ginger (this was my favorite of the day because it tasted like a whole, savory meal.)
4. 2 green apples, 1 bunch of chard, 1 bunch of kale, 1 bunch of celery, 1 lemon, 1 inch of ginger
We had a few morning errands to run and decided to have a treat at The Living Root Cellar. We “ate out” and enjoyed our smoothie earlier in the day. I chose the Liquid Lazarus (Almond Milk, Banana, Cashew, Agave, Cacao, Maca, Flax, and L-Carnitine)
After we smoothied up, I taught a detox yoga class and jetted over to the grand opening of our yoga studio’s new Yucaipa location. It was incredibly exciting and I am so proud to be a part of this community. We hung out at the new studio for a few hours, and tried not to stare too much at the vegan cupcakes (!!!!), with the studio’s logo on them.
We then headed off to see some family. We kept our ice chest handy and grabbed our juices when we felt hungry.
In the evening, we headed back home and settled in to watch Game of Thrones, with the last juice of the day, and tried not to yell at the TV too much, but you guys, that episode, mayjah EXCLAMATION POINTS !!!!!
Although I felt OK most of the day, I had a severe energy crash around 5:00 PM, that I never quite recovered from. I could have easily went to sleep at that time and possible not woken up till this morning. I hung in till the end of Game of Thrones, but was out by 8:30. I am not sure why I crashed so hard, when my energy has been going strong, but maybe I just needed some sleep.
Additional detox of the day: coconut oil pulling
Have you heard of oil pulling? I only have recently. It’s swishing coconut oil around in your mouth for a recommend 20 minutes to pull out toxins. This is a pretty thorough post on oil pulling.
This was my first attempt at oil pulling, so I only went for 10 minutes. The hardest part was to be mindful not to swallow, when I felt that was my instinct. When I was finished, my mouth and teeth did feel a whole lot cleaner. I definitely want to try it more and see if I can work my way up to 20 minutes.
Have you ever tried oil pulling?
My friends so oil pulling and swear by it but I’ve never tried it myself. Good luck!
Thank-you! I definitely want to try it some more.
I actually oil pull daily. I don’t really know if it works, but it’s not hard so I do it anyway 🙂
How long do you oil pull for? I struggled with the length of time the most.
