New Playlist for the Gym

I have been in desperate need of a new play-list. I think I have still been using the same playlist from when I ran The Run Through Redlands Half-Marathon.

I still have not been running very much, only as much as 3 miles here and there. But, I have been investing a lot more time at the gym and needed a new batch of music to get me motivated.

This list contains 23 songs and is 1 hour 28 minutes.

  • “All About That Bass” Meghan Trainor incredibly infectious
  • “Anaconda” Nicki Minaj I know, I know…but, I just.can’t.stop.listening.
  • “#Beautiful” Mariah Carey I am on a huge Mariah kick, it happens about once per year.
  • “Bindya Chamke Gi” Gunjan I love the international, vibrant flow.
  • “Breath” (Chromeo Mix) Lenny Kravitz Great beats!
  • “Cupid Shuffle” Cupid Classic favorite
  • “Dancing With Myself” The Donnas This version is incredibly energetic
  • “Doo Wa Ditty” Zapp Classic, classic, classic
  • “Emotions” Mariah Carey Mariah kick, still in effect
  • “Empire” Shakira I love the way this song builds up to an epic level
  • “Hideaway” Kiesza Blogged about this song here
  • “Hunter” Pharrell Williams Silly, but upbeat
  • “I Like It” Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull I always have to have at least one Pitbull song
  • “Keep It Up” Fannypack Great beats for jumping jacks or jump roping
  • “Let Me Think About It” Ida Corr Makes me feel like dancing!
  • “Put Your Graffiti On Me” Kat Graham An absolutely ridiculous song, but makes you move!

Half-Marathon Playlist

This past weekend, I ran an 8 mile training run for A Run Through Redlands half-marathon, which I plan to run in April. I was really in need of new music to keep me inspired and moving, so I made a new playlist. This should take me through my training for the race. None of these songs are necessarily “new,” but it was still a nice change from my previous list. I sorted the songs alphabetically, and put my ipod on shuffle.

  • 1. All Summer Long-Kid Rock
  • 2. Baby I’m A Star-Prince. Pretty much each of my playlist feature Prince, because he makes me feel like this:
  • 3. Bathwater-No Doubt
  • 4. Beat It-Michael Jackson. MJ also makes each list, I like to pretend I look like this:
  • ….even though I am sure I look more like this:
  • 5. Bonafied Lovin-Chromeo
  • 6. Boys Boys Boys-Lady Gaga
  • 7. California Love- 2 Pac
  • 8. Dance With Me-112
  • 9. Dancing With Myself-The Donnas
  • 10.  Dead Man’s Party-Oingo Boingo
  • 11. Edge of Glory-Lady Gaga
  • 12. Gettin’ Over You-David Guetta
  • 13. Headsprung-LL Cool J
  • 14. HoeDown ThrowDown-Miley Cyrus
  • 15. I WannaDance With Somebody-Whitney Houston
  • 16. La Vie Boheme-Cast of Rent
  • 17. Let’s get Loud-Jennifer Lopez
  • 18. A Little Party Never Killed Nobody-Fergie (from the Great Gatsby Soundtrack)
  • 19. Lovin’ Touchin’ Squeezin’-Journey
  • 20. Nu Nu (Yeah Yeah)- Fannypack
  • 21. Outta Control-Pitbull & Baby Bash
  • 22. Pause-Pitbull
  • 23. Scream-Starkillers
  • 24. Scream & Shout-Britney Spears & Will.I.Am
  • 25. Shimmy Shimmy Ya-Ol’ Dirty Bastard
  • 26. SOS-Rihanna
  • 27. Stronger-Britney Spears
  • 28. Teenagers-My Chemical Romance
  • 29. You’re the Best-Karate Kid soundtrack

This list is 2 hours and 2 minutes, which is a little bit shorter than I hope to finish the race in, so it should be enough to get me through my training. Sometimes, I really do like running with no music and letting my head clear with the silence, but when I start adding on the higher miles, a good song helps break up the monotony.

What are your favorite songs to run to?

Run Through Redlands Playlist

On Sunday, I will be running The Run Through Redlands half marathon. This is definitely a rough time for the running community and it is hard not to think or be affected by what happened in Boston earlier this week.

Runners quickly become like family. I could have never made it through my first marathon without my running group that I trained with. There have been countless times that I have struggled during a run, but gotten a boost from a fellow runner, spectator or volunteer. The amount of positive energy that flows around races has strengthened my belief in humanity. I am definitely heavy hearted about my running family in Boston and send them all my love and positive vibes.

Boston will definitely be on my mind on Sunday.

In order to get pumped for this race, I made a new playlist to power me through. This play list is over 2 hours long. I anticipate finishing it in about 2:20. Click on the image below to see the playlist:

New Playlist

This weekend, I am scheduled for 10 miles, double digits! It was definitely time for a new playlist

March playlist

Prince always gets my hyped and moving. Hopefully, Wilson Philip’s “Hold On” will get me through any trying moments. New music gives me something to look forward to on a run. Bring on the double digits!

Current Running Playlist

I am always looking for new songs to add to my running playlists. For my shorter runs, I often prefer silence and the opportunity to clear my mind. For my longer runs though, I opt for music for motivation and distraction.

I thought I would start posting some of my playlists for anyone else who may be looking for inspiration. Please feel free to suggest new music! I am always looking for new things to get me moving.

Click on the image for a better view. This list is just over an hour long and will get through about 6-7 miles. Pitbull, Prince and Lady Gaga generally make an appearance on my lists. I shamelessly love pop music, anything that makes me want to dance doubles as motivating me to run!
